Scott Beatty was born and raised in country Victoria and in 1984 was given the opportunity to work as an Apprentice Cook under the guidance of Executive Chef Peter Hoppach at a leading restaurant in Wangaratta. Scott completed his formal training with Mr Hoppach and the Gordon Institute in 1988 and pursued a variety of positions including ski resorts, five star properties and in-flight catering with Ansett Airlines.
Scott then moved to Europe for two years and worked in boutique hotels and a small French restaurant. Returning to Australia in December 1993 Scott took a position with the Daikyo Group of hotels in Cairns and later moved to Melbourne to begin working with the Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation and then followed this with a position at the Sheraton Towers Southgate (now the Langham). Whilst at the Sheraton Scott managed several areas of the hotels kitchen operations, initially leading the buffet restaurant team, he then moved to the A la carte restaurant, and finally managed the banqueting department’s three kitchens.
Scott then used his five star banqueting experiences to assist a banqueting venue in Toorak before moving to a private members golf club. Scott is now the Executive Chef at the Batman’s Hill on Collins where he has worked since 2005. Scott has competed in several cookery competitions, the highlight winning the Team Cookery Challenge at the 12th Melbourne International Foodservice Exhibition in 1999. In addition to his cookery qualifications Scott also holds qualifications in Patisserie and in Training and Assessment.
